Happy Mother's Day!

(Source:Google)

Anika is having a nap now and as I sit here looking back at the past two hours I can tell you that I had baby food all over me (and all over my baby's face, some of it did hit the mark and find its way into her belly ), I cleaned baby poop and baby bum, I carried little baby on my shoulders when carrying her on my hips gave me an ache, I tickled her tiny little feet and laughed out hard with her, I watched her in awe as she played peekaboo with me and we had a nice and calming time in her tub while I gave her a gentle scrub down. In two hours from now, we will, together, with laughter and tears repeat this all over again. I cannot but be gloriously happy about becoming a mother.

I have my moments of freak out, my moments of utter panic, confusion and dismay and my moments of complete exhaustion. I also have moments of deep emotional awakening, moments of complete bliss and joy ever since I became a mother and this is just the beginning.

This mothers day, I am one happy mamma and without further ado i want to share with you what I have been soaking up as a part of mother's day, some very moving and amazing posts from my favorite writers, go on and indulge:-)

1. How do you mother yourself? I am a huge fan of Karen Miller, she writes so beautifully about mothering yourself and asks you some wonderful questions and opens up a world full of possibilities on being gentle with yourself, like you are with your baby. She also writes this amazing amazing Prayer on a mother becoming (I copied and posted it below, in case you don't want to click on links and all that)

May you be tired and afraid
overwhelmed and ready to quit.
Quit!
Start over, over
ten thousand times over
roll out, get up, fall down
break into tears
open in laughter
sing and dance
be silly, be glad.
May you forget most things,
remember everything,
come to know in your bones
with your blood
through your eyes
from your lips
out of earth
deep below, well beyond
you are love.
You are just love.

Amen.

2.  100 Kisses is such a pleasure to read. A great take away for mothers of teens and a lovely way to make your day!

3. I am a proud (adoptive) parent. Are you? is a great read for all parents about being honest with yourself and your children.

4. Did you know that every 90 seconds a woman dies from complications of pregnancy and childbirth? Sign this pledge over at International Museum of women to help reduce needless deaths and help women become the mothers they want to be.

5. Lastly, Running, parenting and other tough stuff by the wonderful Lisa at LifeUnity. I absolutely love her :)

A wonderful mothers day to all mothers. I hope you enjoy the links as much as I do.
